Assessments

Assessment in this curriculum is not intended to constitute as a pass or fail on any individual’s behalf. As a teacher you are welcome to integrate the work done by students into the larger semester curriculum and the ethos of the school’s internal assessment and grading structures. We have provided rubrics that we intend to be used primarily for formative assessment. You are also encouraged to share with your students how learning is perceived from your perspective compared to what the students feel they have learned the most themselves in their experiences.

We have provided a Learning Passport for students to track the completion of their work and learning experience. They can stick the associated postage stamp for that activity into their passport to show it's been done. This is a fun way for students to engage with the materials and have motivation to continue with their work.

We have also provided a rubric that can be used by you at the end of each unit or at the end of the curriculum depending on your preference and your student’s need for feedback and progress. It would be useful to also show this to your students at the beginning of each unit so that they have an understanding of what skills and points you will be assessing them on.

We have also provided a self reflective rubric intended for the students to use to evaluate their own learning at the end of each unit. As a teacher it would be useful to guide the students through the process of how to use this document and what benefit it has to reflect on their own learning systems.

Rubrics and the Learning Passport with associated stamps can be found and downloaded from the Printables section of the Teacher's Guide.
